1) Pangong Lake

Located in Hemis which is a five hour driveaway from Leh is this beautiful lake that never fails to lift the souls of travelers. Its oceanic blue colour and the rugged brown mountains that surround by makes everybody skip a beat. Its unique feature includes the changing of the lake’s surface color. There are two streams from the Indian side that ultimately lead to the formation of wetlands and marshes at its edges.

2) Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary

It is considered as the second largest nature reserve due to the presence of rare flora and fauna. It is a place for gaining knowledge about wildlife. The plants found there have good medicinal value too.

3) Leh Palace

It was built in the 17th century by King Sengge Namgyal. It is also one of the tallest buildings of its time with nine stories and has marvelous panoramic views of the entire town of Leh, as well as of the Stok Kangri and Zanskar mountains making the place turn a tagged tourist point.

4) Shanti Stupa

It is one amongst the most recognizable landmarks in Leh Ladakh. It was built by Japanese and Ladakhi Buddhists to commemorate 2500 years of Buddhism and to promote world peace. The place is mainly for meditation and tourists all over the globe enjoy the stunning view of the site.

5) Khardung la

It is the acclaimed to be one of the highest motorable roads in India. It was once a route for ancient caravan travel. It is also referred to as a hotspot for mountain biking expeditions. It is believed to have heavy traffic rocks, melting snow, huge mud and craters makes the journey little unfriendly.

6) Magnetic hill

It is also called as cyclops hill. It is said that the area creates an optical illusion of the hill. It is a downhill road. As per a theory, they say that magnetic force in the area pulls the car upwards. There are many theories put forward for the place but this is what people believe.

7) Spituk Monastery

It is one of the important places in Ladakh. It has the idol of Lord Buddha, paintings, carvings, masks and idol of Kaali. It has a festival under its name called as Spituk Festival where the mask of Kaali is unveiled and dances are performed in a grand way. It is one of the colorful events witnessed.

8) Tso kar lake

It is a place for travelers and is much appealing when watched at night. It has an awesome ambience and shines brightly when moonlight falls on it. Migratory birds visit this lake so often and thus making the place more appealing.

9) Kargil

It is on the bank of river Indus. It is a place of conflict between India and Pakistan. Kargil War Memorial is built by Indian Army to commemorate the sacrifices of Indian Soldiers. The names of them are engraved in a huge wall.

10) Moonland

This place is famous for moonlight topography and terrains. This place is famous for Buddhism and its features of murals and artworks. The Selenophiles would undoubtedly love this place.
